How to Apply for Direct Entry (Transfers) into the Bachelor Degree

To apply for direct entry into the Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management (in any of our campus locations: Lausanne, Passugg or Singapore) we invite you to read the information on this page carefully, prepare your documents and complete the online application.

Bypass the Preparatory Year (Direct Entry into First Year)

We accept applications from students wishing to bypass the preparatory year and transfer directly into the first year of our Bachelor Program. Candidates must have verified work experience in hospitality and prior academic qualifications that are considered equivalent to the EHL curriculum.

This work experience has to be found independently by the student. Please contact the admissions department for more details.

Direct Entry to Complete the Bachelor Degree in 4 Semesters

Students of the following types of institutions are eligible to apply for direct entry. Applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis:

  • Hospitality schools: A minimum of 60 ECTS and one year of professional experience, including internships.
  • USA: Associate Degree, minimum 40 US credits one year of professional experience, including internships.
  • Others: please contact admissions

All direct entry students must also meet the same academic and language requirements as those applying for the first year of our Bachelor’s degree.

Direct Entry to Complete the Bachelor Degree in 3 Semesters

Exclusively for graduates of the diplôme hôtelière-restauratrice / hôtelier-restaurateur HF/ES/SS  (Swiss Professional Diploma in Hospitality Management):

Students holding a Diplôme hôtelière-restauratrice / hôtelier-restaurateur HF degree may now complete our Bachelor Program in only 3 semesters. The first semester of the direct entry path takes place on EHL Campus Passugg, near Chur, Switzerland. 

All direct entry students must also meet the same academic and language requirements as those applying for the first year of our Bachelor’s degree.

Application process

Step 1. Online Application & Documents

All of these documents must be submitted electronically via the online application form.

  • Copy of your passport(s)
  • Copy of your secondary school diplomas and transcripts as soon as available
  • Copy of your hospitality education diploma, transcripts and course descriptions in English
  • Proof of English level 
  • Copy of work certificates - if applicable
  • Essay
    • Topics (please choose one):
      • Why have you chosen to study at EHL? What criteria did you use when assessing whether EHL is the right fit for you
      • EHL prepares students to become leaders in a competitive, demanding and global industry. What are your expectations for EHL and your career objectives ?
      • Which current trends do you find most interesting in the hospitality industry? How do you think EHL will help you manage these trends in your career?

When you have uploaded all of the required documents, please finalize your application by paying your application fee of CHF 175. Please note that this amount is not refundable nor transferable to another application.

 

Step 2. Admissions Interviews

Once you have submitted a complete application, our Admissions Team will evaluate it and contact you if you are selected for an interview. The interview is conducted on campus or by video conference.

 

Step 3. Final Decision

Final decisions will be made by the Admissions Committee after an evaluation of your complete application file and interviews. Allow a minimum of 2 weeks after the interview to receive your final decision.
