Biography
Originally from Alsace, Chef Christophe Schmitt began his career working with Émile Jung at the prestigious Au Crocodile* restaurant in Strasbourg, after studying at the CEFPPA hotel school in Illkirch. He quickly honed his culinary skills in some of France's finest establishments: at La Maison Lameloise* in Chagny, alongside Jacques Lameloise; at La Villa Florentine in Lyon with Davy Tissot (MOF and Bocuse d'Or); and at the Abbaye de la Bussière with Olivier Elzer.
In 2007, he moved to Paris and joined the restaurant Le Diane* at the Hôtel Fouquet's Barrière, where he rose through the ranks to become head chef. In 2012, he was awarded his first Michelin star, the same year he won the Prix Taittinger international. In 2011, he had already been named ‘Espoir de l'année’ (Rising Star of the Year) by Le Chef magazine, and he was a finalist in the Meilleur Ouvrier de France competition in 2015 and 2022.
After a stint at the Hôtel Ile de la Lagune in Saint-Cyprien, where he again earned a star in 2018 for the restaurant L'Almandin, he took over from MOF chef Philippe Jourdin at the Domaine de Terre Blanche in 2020, where he runs the kitchens and led the Faventia restaurant to a Michelin star in 2022.
Christophe Schmitt then enriched his career with international experience in Asia, as executive chef of several restaurants in Macau, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Vietnam. He also participated in promoting French gastronomy at various events in Bali, Mexico City, Beirut and Shanghai.
Since 2024, he has been putting his talent to work in the service of educational excellence by joining the EHL Hospitality Business School in Lausanne as chef at Le Berceau des Sens, the school's Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant. There, he continues his quest for excellence and knowledge transfer, while preserving the prestige of French cuisine.
