Dr. Philippe Masset promovierte an der Universität Fribourg (2012). Seine Forschungsgebiete liegen in den Bereichen Empirische Finanzwissenschaft, Alternative Investments, Weinwirtschaft, Finanzmanagement im Gastgewerbe und Hotel-Immobilieninvestitionen. Er war Gastprofessor an der Universität von Bordeaux und ist Mitglied mehrerer akademischer Vereinigungen, unter anderem der American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE) und Bordeaux Wine Economics (BWE). Er ist außerdem Gründungsmitglied der Alliance for Research on Wine and Hospitality Management. Er veröffentlichte mehrere Artikel in internationalen Fachzeitschriften wie Emerging Market Review, European Financial Management, Journal of Alternative Investments und im Handbook of Financial Econometrics and Statistics und in den Medien (z. B. Bloomberg, Reuters, Radio Télévision Suisse, Bilan, The Times, The Daily Telegraph, China Daily, La Repubblica) wurde oft über ihn berichtet. Er hat an verschiedenen akademischen Einrichtungen Kurse im Bereich Finanzen (Finanzmanagement, Corporate Finance, Investments, Real-Estate Finance, Risk Management, Weinwirtschaft & Finanzierung) gegeben.
