Conditions for Direct Entry and Credit Transfer

Transfer into first year (direct entry into first year)

Modified internship requirements for September 2021 entry.

The 12-month internship requirement to enter EHL Lausanne or EHL Singapore as a transfer student into Year 1 has exceptionally been modified to accommodate the current situation with COVID.

For Entry into the BOSC1 September 2021 intake, the modified internship requirement is:

  1. Having completed an internship of 8 months minimum
  2. The internship must include work experience in at least 2 departments of a hotel (with a minimum of 3 months in each department).

The internship can be found independently by the student, or with the help of EHL:  we have partnerships with companies in many countries around the world.  Please contact the admissions department for more details.


Direct Entry into the Bachelor Program - 4 Additional Semesters

Students of the following types of institutions are eligible to apply for direct entry. Applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis:

  • Hospitality schools: A minimum of 60 ECTS and one year of professional experience, including internships.
  • USA: Associate Degree, minimum 40 US credits one year of professional experience, including internships.
  • Others: please contact admissions

Direct Entry into the Bachelor Program - 3 Additional Semesters

Exclusive for graduates of the diplôme hôtelière-restauratrice / hôtelier-restaurateur HF/ES/SS  (Swiss Professional Diploma in Hospitality Management):

Students holding a Diplôme hôtelière-restauratrice / hôtelier-restaurateur HF degree may now complete our Bachelor Program in only 3 semesters. The first semester of the direct entry path takes place on EHL's campus in Passugg, near Davos, home of Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality.  For details on the program flow, please refer to this page: Bachelor Degree - Direct Entry

All direct entry students must also meet the same academic and language requirements as those applying for the bachelor’s degree.

Application process

Step 1. Online Application & Documents

All of these documents must be submitted electronically via the online application form.

  • Copy of your passport(s)
  • Copy of your secondary school diplomas and transcripts as soon as available
  • Copy of your hospitality education diploma, transcripts and course descriptions in English
  • Proof of English level 
  • Copy of work certificates - if applicable
  • Essay

When you have uploaded all of the required documents, please finalize your application by paying your application fee of CHF 175. Please note that this amount is not refundable nor transferable to another application.

Step 2. Admissions Interviews

Once you have submitted a complete application, our Admissions Team will evaluate it and contact you if you are selected for an interview. The interview is conducted on campus or by video conference.

Step 3. Final Decision

Final decisions will be made by the Admissions Committee after an evaluation of your complete application file and interviews. Allow a minimum of 2 weeks after the second interview to receive your final decision.
