Conditions for Direct Entry and Credit Transfer
To apply for direct entry into the second year of the Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management, we invite you to read the information on this page carefully, prepare your documents and complete the online application.
Transfer into first year
Under certain conditions, we accept applications from students wishing to transfer to the first year of our Bachelor Program: Students who have a defined set of work experience in hospitality or whose prior academic qualifications are considered. Such students are not required to complete the preparatory year.
Direct Entry Into the Bachelor Program - 4 Additional Semesters
Students of the following types of institutions are eligible to apply for direct entry. Applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis:
- Hospitality schools: A minimum of 2 years of academic study and one year of professional experience, including internships.
- USA: Associate Degree, minimum of 2 years of academic study and one year of professional experience, including internships.
- Others: please contact admissions
Direct Entry to the Bachelor Program - 3 Additional Semesters
Exclusive for graduates of the diplôme hôtelière-restauratrice / hôtelier-restaurateur HF/ES/SS (Swiss Professional Diploma in Hospitality Management):
Students holding a Diplôme hôtelière-restauratrice / hôtelier-restaurateur HF degree may now complete our Bachelor Program in only 3 semesters. The first semester of the direct entry path takes place on EHL's campus in Passugg, near Davos, home of Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality. All direct entry students must also meet the same academic and language requirements as those applying for the bachelor’s degree.

Students in the hospitality management bachelors degree program can spend a semester at the Emirates Academy in Dubai or at the School of Hotel & Tourism Management at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This gives them a unique insight into extremely active regions in the world in terms of tourist project development. In exchange, students from our partner schools can come to EHL to explore traditional Swiss hospitality and benefit from our state-of-the-art teaching methods.
We intend to develop similar exchange programs in the future with other globally-renowned institutions.
Individual applications to participate in one of our mobility programs are welcome. Candidates should apply with the Student Affairs department. Please note that we will only accept students who meet our minimum admission requirements.
Step 1. Online Application & Documents
All of these documents must be submitted electronically via the online application form.
- Copy of your passport(s)
- Copy of your secondary school diplomas and transcripts as soon as available
- Copy of your hospitality education diploma, transcripts and course descriptions in English
- Proof of English level
- Copy of work certificates - if applicable
When you have uploaded all of the required documents, please finalize your application by paying your application fee of CHF 175. Please note that this amount is not refundable nor transferable to another application.
Step 2. Admissions Interviews
Once you have submitted a complete application, our Admissions Team will evaluate it and contact you if you are selected for an interview. The interview is conducted on campus or by video conference.
Step 3. Final Decision
Final decisions will be made by the Admissions Committee after an evaluation of your complete application file and interviews. Allow a minimum of 2 weeks after the second interview to receive your final decision.
