A chef from the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne at the 2008 Olympic Games

On 22 July the six Swiss triathletes who have been selected for the Olympic Games in Beijing will be flying to China with the hope of bringing home some medals.

These elite athletes will not be alone as they are taking with them not only a physiotherapist, a doctor and their personal trainers, but also Bruno Rossignol, a chef given special leave from the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne to concoct dishes for them during their stay in China, while following a precise nutritional programme.

According to the National Coach, Iwan Schuwey, the six triathletes (Magali Di Marco Messmer, Daniela Ryf, Nicola Spirig, Olivier Marceau, Sven Riederer et Reto Hug), “all have the potential to be in the first eight in Beijing. The goal is to bring back at least one medal and a diploma” (editor’s note: a ranking in the top eight). The Swiss Team will therefore be confronting the trials on 18 and 19 August well prepared, well accompanied, and very motivated.
