Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Administration

US accreditation

EHL’s Bachelor of Science is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). This commission accredits universities and high-level professional schools in the US and abroad.

European accreditation

In Europe, EHL’s Bachelor of Science (BSc.) is a legally protected title which is recognized by the Swiss federal government as an HES-SO degree (University of Applied Sciences). The BSc. is in conformity with the Bologna requirements for a 3-year Bachelor degree. It also adds a first, preparatory year of professional experience in conformity with HES-SO regulations.

Recognition for advanced study

The Bachelor of Science is market-oriented and develops the competencies for rapid insertion into the working world. At the same time it has the academic recognition which is a prerequisite for access to more advanced study:

  • NEASC accreditation guarantees the level of EHL Bachelor degree in relation to Bachelor degrees in the US and internationally
  • The Bologna accreditation ensures acceptance in Europe
  • HES-SO recognition permits application to other universities in the Swiss system (Rectors’ Conference Agreement, December 2007).

The decision whether or not to accept a candidate for further study, whether in Switzerland or abroad, always depends on the specific requirements of the host university, which may ask for additional credits in some specific area and selects candidates according to its own criteria and needs. However accreditation ensures that a candidate may submit an application for consideration and that the quality of previous study is clearly recognized.
