3. An international community: the EHL family

Hospitality is an international business and EHL is a truly international school. Today there are over 90 nationalities among the students and over 30 among staff and faculty. About half of the student body comes from abroad.

Different schools, different languages, different backgrounds…

In fact, the EHL community is even more diverse than these figures suggest. Many of our students themselves have multicultural backgrounds: their parents often come from different countries, and many have two or more nationalities. On average, each student speaks three languages. The majority have lived abroad and studied in different countries, often changing educational systems or attending international schools; almost half are not living in their home country when they apply to EHL.

Learning from each other

Our international students seek an international atmosphere. They are open, adaptable, curious about other countries and cultures, and able to put themselves in question. Respect for other people’s values, opinions and ideas is a natural part of the spirit of the school. That is why, when selecting future students, we particularly look for the tolerance, flexibility and respect for different ways of thinking and doing, which are vital in an international community.

A living laboratory

Learning intercultural management is essential for the hospitality industry. You learn more from living and working at EHL than you would from any formal course. EHL is a living laboratory which will help you understand other cultures – while learning to see yourself differently, through others’ eyes!
