Of course, many aim to be general manager of a five-star hotel, but many have other ambitions: a spa resort on a tropical island, an intriguing new concept for bed-and-breakfast operations or for an equestrian holiday centre, an audacious new restaurant concept…

Today, hospitality is much more than hotel and restaurant enterprises. You can aim for management positions in airlines and cruise lines, sport-entertainment-amusement centers, hospitals and clinics, international organizations. You can specialize in event management for go-getting businesses such as private banks as well as for hotels and conference centres. Different companies all over the world use hospitality expertise in a wide range of areas: law, marketing, human resources or financial management. Today, it’s not just hospitality, it’s the “hospitality function” that counts.

New opportunities for an unusual, specific mix of skills are opening up as the industry changes and develops. There is increased demand for sophisticated technology and IT applications. Architecture and design are playing a more and more important role in the hospitality experience.
