Bachelor programme: Director's message
EHL is innovating yet again, with the launch of its new Bachelor of Science programme in International Hospitality Management.
The programme has been developed in reponse to the increasing complexity and diversity of the hospitality industry and the need to make decisions which are informed and far-sighted at both operational and strategic level. >>>
The curriculum has been built around the concept of integration. Traditionally, academic programmes are divided into distinct disciplines with one or two disciplines dominating the curriculum. However, most challenges facing hospitality managers today cut across traditional academic subjects and cannot be solved within the framework of one or two disciplines. This is why the new programme is designed to build links between all the different subjects in the form of modules or projects which show the impact of an issue or challenge across the whole enterprise.
Learning is activity-based, calling on a wide range of methods that encourage exploration and discovery. These include group work, case studies, event management and applied research projects as well as business or entrepreneurial mandates for outside companies.
The new programme aims to develop leadership potential by putting students into concrete situations in which they can try out and develop their own particular style of leadership. Students work constantly in teams and are involved in projects that focus on present needs and trends. In this way, we prepare our students for management at both operational and strategic level and ensure that they are in phase with the evolution of the hospitality industry.
