Output: our deliverables
EHL plays a major part in the hospitality industry by preparing its students for their future role as responsible, knowledgeable leaders who will drive the industry forward.
EHL also supports the industry by providing new, specialized, information in areas essential to its development, and works to promote sustainable development practices that are also commercially viable.
Forming knowledgeable students
EHL students receive a broad-based business education that prepares them to be efficient managers. In addition, they receive hospitality-specific knowledge and skills in areas that are important to the industry. They are used to working in high-energy teams and have benefited extensive in-company experience. Maybe most importantly, they have learned to be creative and innovative in their approach, through EHL's unique focus on management both as a science and an art.
Developing essential new knowledge
The hospitality industry is developing so fast that it is very difficult to keep up with the vast flow of information. As well, the relationship of clients to the hospitality experience has suddenly become radically different. People are seeking information in ways that completely bypass traditional channels. The traditional advice of "Know your customer", which directed strategic choices in the past, is increasingly difficult to follow now that the customer has become so "slippery" and allergic to commercial messages.
Being able to capture, sift and manage data, and to understand shifts in customer behaviour and attitude, has become an essential success factor. EHL's role in producing, interpreting and disseminating new knowledge, and in tracking customer behaviour with new, up-to-date tools, can help the industry to anticipate trends and to become innovative and proactive.
Help for sustainable practices
Most leaders in the hospitality industry are interested in sustainable development and aware of their responsibility in the global development of the industry. However, very often sustainable practices are not perceived as choices that provide a good return on investment. EHL focuses both on ethical issues and on commercial viability.
