The LHR Office

Lausanne Hospitality Research is a department within EHL. It structures EHL's research agenda, acts as the clearing house for all research performed at the School, generates, allocates and manages resources for research, and ensures output quality and the publication of results.

Administrative support

In addition to providing scientific support, the LHR office deals with all administrative matters relating to research activities:

  • grant-writing and bidding for funding
  • activities related to two Centres for Excellence of the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland
  • the organization of research-related conferences on campus
  • collaborative arrangements both with the industry and with academic institutions.

In-house collaboration

LHR Office works closely with EHL's Learning Department to integrate research findings into the curriculum and helps to organize the participation of the research team in all student activities relating to research.

Industry contact

LHR is the contact point for industry in all aspects concerning industry participation in research and the dissemination of results.

Thouraya GHERISSI LABBEN - Director

Responsibilities

  • Develops and oversees research activities in line with EHL's three strategic focus areas
  • Leads publicly and privately funded research projects.
  • Promotes collaboration with other educational institutions and with the industry
  • Develops concepts for conferences hosted by EHL
  • Member of the Research team
  • Member of EHL's teaching faculty

Background:

  • PhD, University Montesquieu Bordeaux IV, France
  • Head of marketing and sales, Hotel Djerba Plaza, Tunisia
  • Head of internal auditing, Palm Beach Hotels, Tunisia

Andrew MUNGALL - Research Associate

Responsibilities:

  • Provides scientific support in applied research projects
  • Prepares grants and subsidies applications for applied research projects
  • Contributes to setting up the scientific programme for the joint EHL/University of Indiana Hospitality & Leisure Conference (link)
  • Represents EHL in TourEspace (link), the research network of the universities of applied sciences specializing in tourism and land-use planning
  • Member of the Research team

 

Background :

  • Postgraduate degree from Geneva University (Switzerland) and a MSc from York University (England). He is currently finishing his PhD thesis.
  • Consulting experience and projects for many organizations including the European Free Trade Association, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the European Commission and the Swiss Federal Office for Economic Affairs.

Elia Adriana CENTENO GIL - Research Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Provides support for EHL faculty in developing online questionnaires
  • Works for the Centre of Hospitality Innovation and Trends
  • Provides support for statistical analysis

Background:

  • LSc in Actuarial Science, Universidad de las Américas-Puebla, UDLA, Mexico
  • Six Sigma quality management system certification (Black Belt level)
  • Currently finishing an MSc in statistics at the University of Geneva.

Myriam McALINDEN - Administrative Coordinator

Responsibilites:

  • Administration of the LHR office
  • Conference & events coordinator

Background:

  • Degree in International Hotel Management from the Vatel Institute in Paris
  • Two-year programme in economics at the University de Nanterre, Paris
  • Nine years' experience in the hotel industry
  • Conference coordinator in 4 and 5 star hotels in London, Geneva and Lausanne

Alexandre RAPPAZ - Research Assistant

Responsabilities :

  • Develop LHR activities inside EHL
  • LHR Director assistant

Background:

  • Bachelor in Economic and Social Sciences, University of Fribourg (Switzerland)
  • Master in Economics, University of Leeds (UK)
