Our research team

EHL researchers are a very international group, coming from 11 different countries. They work both on individual research projects and on joint projects with other educational institutions and with the industry.

Their work is focused on the three strategic research axes (link) which have been defined by EHL as key areas for the future of the industry. As an international team with many different areas of competency, EHL researchers are able to synergize their expertise to develop in-depth knowledge in these essential areas.

In addition to their research and publications activities, EHL researchers:

  • participate in meetings and conferences hosted by EHL
  • present papers at international conferences
  • teach in the school's academic programmes
  • participate in curriculum development
  • work with faculty and students on projects such as in the context of the Centre of Hospitality Innovation and Trends

Thouraya GHERISSI LABBEN, Ph.D, Research Director

Dr Gherissi Labben is the Director of Lausanne Hospitality Research and is also a member of EHL's teaching faculty.

Inès GHORBAL-BLAL, PhD, Professor and Researcher

Karolin KOKAZ, PhD, Professor and Researcher

Nationalities: Swiss and Turkish

Research interests:

Developing models of operations management to increase productivity in the hotel and restaurant businesses and analyzing the impacts on profitability.

Samad LAAROUSSI, PhD, Professor and Researcher 

Nationality: Moroccan

Research interests:

Andrew MUNGALL, MSc, Research Associate

Mr Mungall holds a postgraduate degree from Geneva University (Switzerland) and a MSc. from York University (England). He is currently finishing his PhD thesis. Mr Mungall provides scientific support in LHR applied research projects in addition to conducting his own research.

Hilary Catherine MURPHY, PhD, Professor and Researcher

Dr. Murphy has a PhD in the diffusion of information and communications technology, as well as extensive business experience in sales and marketing management.

Steffen RAUB, PhD, Professor and Researcher

Dr Raub holds a PhD in management from the University of Geneva and two master’s degrees from ESSEC, France, and the University of Manheim, Germany.
