Centre of Hospitality Innovation and Trends
Lausanne Hospitality Research is in the process of launching a Centre of Hospitality Innovation and Trends which is designed to identify the latest trends in the hospitality industry. Its aim is to build on in-depth knowledge of present developments in order to promote innovation in the future.
Anticipating trends
Through its close contact with industry, the Lausanne Hospitality Research is in a unique position to anticipate trends, enabling enterprises to meet new needs proactively. It seeks to assemble and interpret data, facilitating access for researchers and for industry professionals to rapidly developing new knowledge. The Strategic Monitoring Centre plays an important role in building, transferring and transforming knowledge.
The Centre of Hospitality Innovation and Trends
LHR's Centre of Hospitality Innovation and Trends is designed as a support service for the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne itself, for academic research in general and for the industry at large. In house, it supports both research and student learning. It also supplies a unique source of knowledge for publication and presentation at international conferences.
The Centre of Hospitality Innovation and Trends assembles raw data and transforms it into a solid basis for scenarios which can be used for innovative practice. The steps are as follows:
- Data collection and interpretation
Initial data is gathered mainly by EHL faculty and students within the framework of their final-year module Advanced Operational Technics. Data is collected from multiple sources including research publications, the web, industry/academic meetings and conferences, and direct contact with professionals. Using advanced electronic applications, the raw data is then filtered, structured and interpretated in order to establish convergences and point the way to areas which have real potential for innovation.
- Building scenarios for business opportunities
The following steps consist firstly of developing scenarios for innovation using specialized software, and finally transforming scenarios into business opportunities.
