The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne has just kicked off an ambitious new campus project.

On Monday 6th May 2013 the Swiss final of the L’Oréal Brandstorm took place in Geneva. This international marketing competition is an opportunity for students from all over the world to act as a brand managers.

Few weeks ago, the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne hosted its second TEDxEHL. The exciting programme brought inspiration from a wide diversity of disciplines.

Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) and Diversey, part of Sealed Air Corporation today announced the conclusion of a long term collaboration agreement with a global scope. EHL and Diversey intend to develop understanding and educate in sustainable cleaning and hygiene solutions among hospitality industry decision-makers and exchange knowledge and best practices.

The Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit between 10th and 13th of November 2013, by a team representing the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Markus Binkert (41), currently Head of Sales & Marketing Switzerland, Germany & Austria, has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer of SWISS airlines, starting his new duties on 1 May.

The EHL Researcher of the Year prize for 2012 has been awarded to Mr Steffen Raub. Mr Raub succeeds Mrs Hilary Murphy who received the award for her work in 2011. His reward is a six month sabbatical leave which will be devoted to pursuing a research project. Steffen Raub will however continue to give lectures at EHL during this period.

EHL will partner the World Tourism Forum Lucerne, a biennial event to be held from 17th to 19th April 2013.

In March 2013, the Swiss Center of Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (OAQ) attested that EHL’s Executive MBA in Hospitality Administration met its quality standards.

In March of this year, the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne hosted its second TEDxEHL. The exciting programme brought inspiration from a wide diversity of disciplines. All the content was curated with stakeholders of the hospitality industry in mind. The event was fostered towards learning, inspiration and wonder and provoking conversations that matter.

On 22 and 23 March the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne hosted its latest Job Fair.

For the 15th edition of EHL’s strategy challenge, the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne partnered with UNWTO, the United Nation’s World Tourism Organization.

UNWTO’s Silk Road Project aims to support the development of sustainable tourism for countries along the “Silk Road”, an ancient trade route between the empires of China, India, Persia and Rome.

The Young Hoteliers Summit 2013 will take place at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne from March 18 to March 20th.
For this year, the summit is looking forward to welcoming 65 delegates from top hospitality schools around the world, more than 50 industry leaders and students from Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne.

Mr. Hans Wiedemann, EHL 1978 and General Manager and Delegate of the Board of Badrutt’s Palace Hotel has received the PATWA Award for the category "Hall of Fame – Lifetime Contribution in the hospitality industry".

This distinction was bestowed during the ITB 2013 in Berlin, the most important international fair for the tourism industry, in front of an audience of UNWTO representatives, tourism ministers, many professionals and the media.

The PATWA (Pacific Area Travel Writers Association) Award recognises people and organisations for their outstanding contribution to the evolution of air and hotel tourism.

The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne extends its warmest congratulations to Mr. Wiedemann for this prize which rewards his contribution to the hospitality industry.
