As an EHL alumna and currently involved in the hospitality industry, I can endorse that EHL prepared me for the ‘real world’ and provided me with a unique learning experience that I still appreciate today. At EHL, my knowledge and skill set evolved not only through classroom lectures, but through practical internships, group work with people from diverse backgrounds and industry events and networking.
During EHL, I undertook an internship in my hometown, Bern, and one in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. After graduation, I was in Management Training as Finance Coordinator, at the Sofitel Luxury Hotels and Resorts Asia Pacific Corporate Office in Singapore, where I worked closely with the Finance team to provide the hotels of the region with constant support. It allowed me to gain a practical understanding of various aspects of hotel finance and development.
In my current role at CBRE Hotels in Sydney, I am specialising in hotel feasibility studies, strategic development advice, operator selections, investment advisories and research and asset management. My current job has allowed me to discover various places in Australia, the Pacific and New Zealand, while analysing their hotel market dynamics. Every day is different as I have had the opportunity to work on a number of assignments ranging from expansion of an existing resort in the Pacific to development of a new mixed use project in regional Australia and performance analysis of a portfolio of hotels to provide a go forward plan.
I am very passionate about the hospitality industry and look forward to sharing some of it with prospective students.
