LAUSANNE, 4th April 2017 - The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has published its report on the 2017 World Economic Impact for the travel and tourism industry.
The report brings encouraging news for the hospitality industry, with growth in the travel and tourism industry outpacing the wider economy in 2016 for the 6th consecutive year despite unexpected events. The industry created 292 million additional jobs, now representing 1 in 10 jobs worldwide, and generated 7.6 trillion USD (10.2% of global GDP), proving once again that travel and tourism is a crucial contributor to the world’s economy and a driver of global prosperity.
The full report can be downloaded here on the WTTC website.
For EHL, the outlook for the industry is well received as Mr Rochat, EHL Group CEO explains: “As the first hospitality management school in the world, our commitment is to provide students with the widest and most promising career opportunities. The continued growth of the industry and its future projections is excellent news for our graduates who can expect a vast choice of job prospects in the years to come.”
While many EHL graduates pursue their professional paths outside of the traditional hotel industry, in related fields such as luxury, consulting or banking, about 50% remain in the hotel and travel industry, thus contributing to the impressive impact highlighted in this new report.
