BookBedder.com is based in the business incubator at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland, and was founded by a team of hoteliers and software specialists.  BookBedder.com launched its beta platform early 2015 and offers 300'000 hotels worldwide and 50 independent partner hotels.

Lausanne, Switzerland – June 23rd  2015 – Independent hotels are now turning to the sharing economy as a means of diversifying and regaining control over their online reservations.  With BookBedder.com hotels now have their own collaborative alternative to the major online booking sites.  To finance its growth BookBedder.com has launched a crowdfunding campaign aimed at the hotel community.

For several years now a rumble of discontent has grown steadily among hoteliers worldwide, frustrated by the increasing dominance of the two major online hotel booking sites: Booking.com and Expedia.  Controversial commercial practices prompted European competition authorities to launch an anti-trust investigation into Booking.com, which forced the booking site to respond with proposed changes that were accepted on April 21st 2015.  Hotels however are far from satisfied by the decision.

Leveraging collaboration to create an alternative

As a direct result of these frustrations BookBedder.com was created to give hoteliers their own booking platform and diversify their online sales channels.  BookBedder.com uses a collaborative approach to reach clients without resorting to expensive online advertising by harnessing the power of the "crowd" of independent hotels. Member hotels help promote the site to their clients, and in turn BookBedder.com shares revenue generated by their future reservations elsewhere in the world.

"BookBedder.com is a collaboration between hoteliers worldwide," explains Skye Legon, CEO and co-founder of BookBedder.com.  "Instead of spending millions in Google ads, we choose to return our marketing dollars to the hotels themselves.  We feel that directly involving hotels themselves is key to solving the online distribution dilemma: providing a solution that benefits both hoteliers and their guests."

Crowdfunding campaign for hoteliers

In addition to opening its capital to hoteliers, BookBedder.com is financing its growth through a crowdfunding campaign crowdfunding.bookbedder.com aimed at the hotel community.  This crowdfunding campaign, to be launched on June 15th 2015, will help accelerate development of the platform and in exchange offer exclusive advantages to participating hoteliers.  The campaign is limited to the first 500 hotels and in this manner BookBedder.com aims to raise €300'000 as well as increasing the choice of accommodation offered to travelers.
