Owners increasingly outsource their hotel's management to professional operating companies.  Hotel General Managers (GM) face the difficult situation of being an agent to these two principals who often have disparate objectives and wish to influence the GM's decisions in their favour. This study's objective is therefore to examine:

  • The mediating role of GM autonomy on the relationship between owner-operator goal congruence and hotel performance
  • The moderating effect owner-operator goal congruence has on the relationship between GM autonomy and hotel performance
