Achim Schmitt, Ph.D., HDR, is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne and Director of the Master HES-SO in Global Hospitality Business. Achim’s research focuses on organization theory and strategic management, with particular interest in organizational ambidexterity, organizational decline, corporate turnarounds and strategic renewal. Achim’s research has been published in diverse outlets including Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Strategy, European Management Journal, Long Range Planning, Management Learning and Scandinavian Journal of Management. Achim has won notable awards including the 2014 and 2010 Best Reviewer Award for BPS Division (Academy of Management Annual Meeting) and the 2011 Best Division Reviewer Strategic Management Track (EURAM Conference, Tallinn, Estonia). His research has been included in the 2010 AoM Best Paper Proceedings and he has been nominated for the best conference paper prize in 2011(31st Strategic Management Society Annual Conf. , Miami, USA), the best conference paper prize for practice implications in 2009 (29th Strategic Management Society Annual Conference, Washington D.C., USA) and the best conference reviewer award in 2011 (Euram Conference, Tallin, Estonia).
